My name is Oyindamola Atere. I’m 25, Nigerian, newly married, a proud Gen Z woman, and a beautician who has always dreamed of something more.
Growing up, I witnessed something that left a deep mark on me. My aunty raised her first child for five whole years without a job. She was present every day. The meals, the cuddles, the laughter, the lullabies. She gave her son all of her. And today, those are the moments he still holds on to.
That taught me that what children really remember is time. Not toys. Not money. But time, attention, love, and presence.
I want to give that kind of life to my children one day. To be there for the little moments, not just the big ones. But I also saw the other side of that story. How financial struggle weighed heavily on my aunty. I saw her battle with helplessness, being dependent, and silently wishing she could do more for herself.
That made me realize that as women, especially in today’s world, we need to be empowered emotionally and financially. Love alone is not enough. And one stream of income definitely isn’t.
Yes, I’m a beautician, and I truly love what I do. Turning faces into art and helping people feel beautiful. But deep down, I knew that just relying on that wasn’t going to give me the freedom, stability, and flexibility I wanted.
That’s when I found digital business. And honestly, it felt like an answered prayer.
It gave me a fresh start. As a newlywed woman, preparing to build the family of my dreams, I knew I didn’t want to choose between motherhood and money. I want both. I want to be successful, fulfilled, and still be present for my home.
